Navigating the Supply Chain Future: Insights from Manifest 2024

Hey, it’s your friendly neighborhood Road Scholar here. As a first-time attendee representing Dare More Media and iLevel Logistics at the expo, Manifest 2024 in Las Vegas was an eye-opening experience that showcased the dynamic landscape of supply chain technology and innovation. Over the course of three days, the expo delved deep into the latest advancements in traceability, artificial intelligence, robotics, and up-and-coming systems, offering invaluable insights into the future of logistics.

One of the most striking aspects of Manifest 2024 was the remarkable diversity present throughout the event. From exhibitors to speakers, the inclusive environment fostered meaningful discussions and highlighted the importance of diverse perspectives in driving industry progress. Men and women representing a vast array of life perspectives were present at the event and prepared to share their wealth of knowledge with the attendees.

Engaging with industry leaders provided a unique opportunity to glean insights into emerging trends shaping the supply chain landscape. Panels featuring experts emphasized the increasing role of technology in optimizing efficiency and streamlining operations. Whether discussing the implementation of AI-driven solutions or the integration of robotics into warehouse management, it was evident that innovation is key to staying competitive in today's market.

One of our favorite panels focused on “Port & Shipping Efficiency Through Technology”, featuring Ittay Hayut (CEO & Co-Founder at Hoopo), Matan Peled (Head of US Business & Co-Founder at Windward), Alfonso De los Rios (CEO & Co-Founder at Nowports), and Uri Yoselevich (CEO & Founder of DockTech). When asked “What are the biggest challenges ports face in terms of understanding how to get from where they are now to where they could be from a digital technology perspective?", Matan answered, “- predictability is a key factor.” Uri also highlighted the difficulties posed when working with government entities versus a private sector company. Ittay pointed out that “no one had predicted the Houthi militant attacks in the Red Sea - sometimes there are things you can’t plan for.”

The panelists accentuated the need to have contingency plans in place when facing regulatory hurdles and sudden changes at the ports - especially now when the industry is facing a tumultuous period. Additionally, processes focusing on organization and processes as the ports will improve the significantly complicated nature of the maritime network. As Alfonso emphasized, “Ports in Latin America often experience a delay of 18-24 hours, due to a lack of planning of execution of containers from vessels to drayage. Paperwork is needed to execute the operations in the port. “

The emphasis on traceability was particularly noteworthy, with discussions centered around the importance of transparency and accountability across the supply chain. As consumers demand greater visibility into product origins and ethical sourcing practices, technologies facilitating traceability are poised to play a crucial role in meeting these expectations. We were thrilled to host Ittay Hayut and Tal Leemor on an upcoming episode of The Chris Joslyn Show, where we dive into Hoopo - an asset intelligence tracking, providing advanced tracking hardware and software for dry containers, chassis, trailers, ground support equipment, waste containers, and more.

Looking ahead, the anticipation for next year's Manifest is palpable. As key players continue to evolve and adapt to changing market dynamics, the prospect of witnessing further advancements and industry collaboration is both exciting and promising.

Dare More Media and iLevel Logistics eagerly await the opportunity to once again participate in this transformative event, and to witness firsthand the innovations that will shape the future of supply chain management.

Manifest 2024 served as a reminder of the immense potential that lies ahead in the realm of supply chain technology. By embracing innovation and fostering diversity, we can collectively navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, ensuring a more resilient and efficient supply chain ecosystem for years to come.
