Record-Breaking $1.03 Billion Counterfeit Goods Seizure Leads to Arrests in the US


Federal prosecutors arrested two individuals, Adama Sow and Abdulaj Jalloh, and seized over 200,000 counterfeit luxury items worth $1.03 billion in what is being described as the largest-ever seizure of counterfeit goods in US history. The goods, including handbags and clothing, were stored in a Manhattan facility and an offsite location. Sow and Jalloh are facing charges of trafficking in counterfeit goods and could each face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Counterfeit goods often support criminal activities, such as forced labor and human trafficking, and purchasing them can result in penalties in the US.
