Efforts Persist to Rescue 40 Trapped in Collapsed Indian Highway Tunnel


Rescue efforts continued to reach 40 men trapped inside a collapsed highway tunnel in India's northern state of Uttarakhand for the fifth day. An advanced drilling machine was brought in from New Delhi to speed up the process of creating a space for a rescue pipe. While progress was slow due to obstructions like boulders and cement blocks, authorities remained confident in the rescue mission. The tunnel collapse occurred in a region prone to landslides, earthquakes, and floods, and the trapped men have been supplied with food, water, and oxygen as they await rescue.
