Summer is almost over, which means the denim jeans will be back for fall. (At least, if you’ve been avoiding jeans as much as possible during one of the hottest summers on record, like the rest of us!)

The popular brand Levi’s is on course to launch its new AI-run platform called BOOST (Business Optimization of Shipping and Transport) This platform has been designed to simplify the e-commerce fulfillment aspect of the company’s product and hopefully will increase Levi’s direct-to-consumer business. Maybe.

Electric vehicle makers scramble for Canada’s raw materials

Lithium and nickel are the prime ingredients for an electric vehicle’s battery and Canada has the goods. Automakers Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz both entered into agreements with the Canadian government last week to secure these precious metals for their manufacturing operations.

Canadian suppliers of these raw materials are looking at the agreement as an opportunity for major growth. Canada recently finalized the Critical Minerals Strategy, a plan to ramp up the amount of cobalt, copper, and other rare-earth minerals in the country.

Small companies struggle to compete with large retailers for warehouse space

Large companies are dominating the warehouse real estate scene, leaving smaller companies in the dust as they sign deals amounting to 37 facilities of 1 million square feet or more. Of the top 100 warehouse leases, only 15 of those were renewals. This suggests that the largest companies are not just sticking around - they’re expanding for more space.

Retail and wholesale, third-party logistics, and e-commerce are the three largest mega-warehouse leases.

Pilot Flying J truck stop partners with Kodiak Robotics, suggesting plans to accommodate self-driving trucks

The popular truck stop operator Pilot Flying J has officially invested in the AI-focuses vehicle manufacturer Kodiak Robotics in a bid to begin accommodating self-driving trucks at its locations in the future. The truck stops, which sit off of major interstates across the country, are expecting to see more of these robot trucks as the industry continues to evolve.

Industry experts suspect that these autonomous trucks used for commercial purposes will likely be on the road before passenger cars are regularly made available to the public due to very predictable routes.
