🇩🇪🚅 It may have to get worse before it gets better. Germany has big plans for its German rail transport system and to improve its capabilities for both freight and human passengers but expects the plan will create massive congestion for a period of time. Railroad union and association officials are warning that the rail system is already suffering from too many congestion problems and that furthering that issue, even in the name of progress, might be too much for it to bear.
🛻 Kiss your job, goodbye… If you’re working at Ford Motor. Ford Motor is axing approximately 3,000 jobs from its entire workforce with a majority of those canned coming from North America. 🇨🇳☀️ It’s getting hot in here. The heat wave that has been tearing across the globe has settled upon China, causing massive havoc upon its supply chain. The Yangtze River, a major water corridor in the country, is showing its lowest levels on record - causing crucial hydro-power centers to slow down and threatening crop yields on its banks. Major manufacturing companies such as Toyota and Foxconn have been forced to suspend operations as the country begins rationing power in certain regions hit the hardest.

Walmart is walking the supply chain tightrope
Walmart’s chief financial officer (CFO) John David Rainey is estimating that the company’s inventory is still 15% better than what’s needed, but also has admitted that Walmart has thrown out billions worth of orders to suppliers in order to match the forecasted demand to those inventory levels. Walmart’s inventory currently sits at about $1.5 billion worth and is expected to take a couple more financial quarters to even out.
Apparel, electronics, and sporting goods seem to be the categories where inventory is most excessive. The company is focusing on its e-commerce supply chain and controlling those costs in order to avoid further backlogs in the future.

Intel chip plants need construction workers, and fast
With all the talk about electric vehicles and enhancing supply chains, the demand for chipmaking has never been greater. Ohio is taking the cue and searching for 7,000 construction workers to build the planned $20 billion manufacturing plant for semiconductor chips in the state capital.
The site, a 1,000-acre plot of land, needed to be leveled and prepared for the two Intel factories that will soon sit on top of it. The factories will then employ 3,000 workers with an average annual salary of $135,000 by opening in 2025.
