Food distribution keeps going, regardless of major disruptions
Good morning! Did you eat your breakfast? 🍳
Bacon and eggs? Pancakes? Protein shake? Make it count!
Your breakfast does depend on a global supply chain that has been in a bit of… disarray. With twenty million tons of grain locked away in Ukrainian silos and sunflower oil becoming of short supply… many are asking, how are we even managing to stay fed through all of this madness?
Well, when there’s a will, there’s a way.
Check out today’s featured article from Food Logistics to read about the food supply chain and how it’s navigating the major disruptions of the last few years while still keeping the world fed. ☕️

Automation can save a trucking fleet 13% on rising fuel costs
Everyone is looking for a way to save a buck at the gas pump, including trucking fleets. The growing cost of fuel has eaten away into any pre-pandemic margin trucking companies had - so what can they do besides raising every price tag on their services?
Motive, an automated operations company, has released results from a study showing that companies that utilize data insights and AI-powered automation are able to perform better maintenance on their vehicles and therefore, get much more fuel efficiency out of them during this inflationary period.

🇺🇸🇹🇼 Very… interesting… The United States and Taiwan have begun the long-awaited trade negotiations despite China’s consistent push-back. The US Trade Representative announced the beginning of the discussion last week and advised that they will surround the topics of regulatory practices, anti-corruption standards, and strengthening agriculture trade. Taiwan’s Office of Trade Negotiations also added in a statement that the island has goals to grow its small and medium-sized enterprises to American markets.
🪧 Expect the best, but prepare for the worst. Europe seems to be taking the motto to heart as the looming port worker strikes in its largest shipping docks threaten the fragile supply chain it’s currently maintaining. Both Germany and the United Kingdom have withering ties between labor relations and the key ports in the countries. It’s expected that the handful of strikes scheduled will create a backup of containers at the terminals during one of the already busiest times of year - the holidays.

Beyond Meat supply chain expands with electric vehicle plans
Einride, an electric vehicle manufacturer, announced its partnership with Beyond Meat in late July. The plant-based protein provider will be expanding its supply chain with electric trucks and charging stations hosted by Einride, beginning with five individual models. While the plan did not lay out where these models will be located, the move is paired with the push to launch an in-house data platform for the EV manufacturer.
Einride is also providing electric vehicles to GE Appliances, Maersk, and Oatly.
