Understanding Why Global Temperatures Are Breaking Records


Several factors contribute to the current record-breaking global temperatures. While El Niño, increasing solar activity, and emissions-reducing efforts play a role, the main driver is human-caused climate change. The rate of greenhouse gas emissions continues to rise, and the combination of climate change and other factors has led to alarmingly high temperatures in September 2023. To prevent further record-breaking temperatures and extreme events, accelerated action towards achieving net-zero emissions is imperative.
