💲 The supply chain and economics have always been tightly intertwined. With inflation at 40-year highs, it’s easy to believe that the supply chain is a new victim of the times. Prior to March 2020, supply chain logistics were not exactly part of a dinnertime topic among the general public. However, the pandemic brought supply chain issues squarely to the forefront of most Americans’ minds.

🤖 Hyperautomation is new technology speeding onto the supply chain scene. A business-driven approach to quickly vet any IT processed in the supply chain ensures a rapid flow of information to all segments of the supply chain that need it. Warehousing is particularly diving deep into hyperautomation, hoping to improve transport processes.

🚢 The Port of Long Beach had its strongest month in May, processing 890,989 twenty-foot equivalent units last month. While this is still a 1.8% decline from the month of May 2021, it is the second-busiest month in the port’s 111-year history. The port has been dangling a “Container Dwell Fee” over the heads of trucking carriers working at the ports, withholding implementing the fee as cargo continues to flux.


South Carolina Ports handle record volume in stride

South Carolina ports handled an increase of 11% from last year, managing 255,104 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) at Wando Welch Terminal, North Charleston Terminal, and Leatherman Terminals last month.

The region's ports have handled a 15% increase in year-over-year TEUs in 2022’s fiscal year thus far.
