US and Canada accuse Mexico of violating the US-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement

The US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, otherwise known as the USMCA, is in jeopardy as the US and Canada duke it out with Mexico. It is being argued that Mexico is violating the free trade deal in North America by prioritizing state-run utilities over private renewable energy organizations. If Mexico fails to win the dispute, it will be hit with anywhere from $10 billion to $30 billion in tariffs by the summer of 2023.

🚚 FedEx Corp. is reducing delivery service on Sundays now that e-commerce spending begins to slow in the post-pandemic market. The reduction plans amount to approximately dropping from 95% coverage to 80% and certain rural markets can expect to skip the post on Sundays. At the height of the pandemic, ground unit work leaped 33% in one quarter - now the company is reporting a 6.2% drop in the latest quarterly report.
🌾 Grain exports are set to return to the Ukrainian Black Sea after the deal has been struck between the country and invading Russia. For months, the Black Sea ports have been closed for fear of mines and capture. The agreement comes as defense and infrastructure ministers for both countries met last week in Istanbul to broker the deal. The action is expected to lessen the impact of the worsening food crisis, for which Russia denies any responsibility.
🏷 Warehouse vacancies still continue to grow as the logistics industry experiences less demand. It is expected that capacity will catch up as we enter 2023, and 800 million additional square feet of space will be needed to accommodate the current growth. The predictions come from a research unit of Prologis Inc. which is focusing on the second-quarter activity.
25% increase year over year of positive drug tests in the transportation/warehousing industry
Urine drug tests have resulted in positive rates of increasing a relative 25% year over year. This growth signals a troubling statistic in the transportation and warehousing industry. Of those who tested positive, nearly 97,000 individuals are still in “prohibited” status, and an additional 72,000 individuals of those haven’t even started the return to duty process required to get back to work.
