Trucking Advocates Warn of Double Brokering Schemes as Fraud Cases Soar, DAT Blocks Thousands of Accounts


Trucking advocates are raising concerns about double brokering schemes, where carriers accept a load but then secretly broker it to another carrier without the shipper's knowledge. DAT, an analytics company, blocked access to over 3,000 accounts in 2022 and a similar number in the first half of 2023 due to suspected fraud, highlighting the growing sophistication of scammers. Regulators are also taking steps to reduce risks associated with such schemes.
