Dispatchers vs brokers: is reform needed?


The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration posted 13 specific questions related to brokers, and 92 separate organizations answered. Those who answered consisted of trucking groups, brokerage groups, and individual brokers and carriers - many of which answered, “it depends.”

The Transportation Intermediaries Association group, a group that represents freight forwarders and brokers, pointed out the loopholes in the FMCSA’s regulations for companies that operate as dispatchers. There has been a regular problem of unlicensed brokers operating under illegal precedence.
