Port of Los Angeles aims to improve truck congestion with $20 million RAISE grant

The federal government's RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) grant promises a four-lane, rail-roadway grade separation. This construction should ease the near-constant traffic over the entire 80-acre facility. The project should also create 300 new jobs and decrease some 3,000 metric tons of truck emissions per year.

🇨🇳 Nvidia, the Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker is in hot water. The company has decided to continue exporting two of its most “advanced” products in China, drawing criticism and limited approval from The Department of Commerce. Now, the company will also be required to obtain a special license to keep exporting. (Supply Chain Dive)

☀️ Global agriculture is threatened by the heat. By 2045, some experts are predicting that heat stress will be too intense for workers who must perform their jobs outdoors. 🚢 Big money… for now! A new study from HSBC is predicting the the shipping industry - while still reaping in the profits - will suffer a huge drop-off over the upcoming two years.   • Let’s go flying! Labor Weekend scored the highest numbers of passengers traveling on a holiday weekend since the pre-pandemic era. According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), approximately nine million people passed through American airports. (The Hill)

  • Better buy, best. Best Buy avoids the trend lining retailers gasping for air under piles of inventory. Instead, the company has reported inventory down 6% since last year at Q2. Best Buy CEO Corie Barry expects this inventory level signals a “return to normal” for the company. (Supply Chain Dive)

  • All aboard! The very first of it’s kind - a zero-emissions cruise ship made by Northern Xplorer - has officially been ordered by the Portuguese shipbuilder West Sea. The ship will vessel 250 people and is expected to be ready to launch in 2025/2026. (MarineLink)
