🍼 The baby formula shortage is an embarrassment to a nation under pressure. Now weeks into the shortage, the shelves are still empty regardless of emergency measures being announced. Abbott Laboratories, the baby formula manufacturing plant that was shut down by the FDA due to safety concerns, announced that it would import baby formula from its Spanish facilities. However, after damage from severe storms in the area, the manufacturing plant is closing its doors once again before increased supplies ever made it to the shelves.

🛻 The Modern, Clean, and Safe Trucks Act of 2022 has been introduced to Congress, proposing doing away with the 12% Federal Excise Tax on heavy trucks and trailers. The bill was introduced on June 16th by Rep. Chris Pappas (D-N.H.) and Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.), making it bi-partisan legislation. The urgency to repeal the tax comes as Congress focuses on supply chain issues and reducing emissions in the transportation industry. It was originally enacted in 1917 to assist the government in paying for World War 1 war efforts.

🧑‍🔧 Vocational work has been treated as a joke for years by the educational system, and America is now suffering for it. After decades of the educational systems insisting that a college degree was the only pathway to success, a generation is now lacking specialists in a skilled trade. Most of the individuals in that industry are now over 55 years old and retiring fast.


59.3% of manufacturing leaders fear a recession is likely within 12 months

The National Association of Manufacturers conducted a survey titled, “Q2 2022 Manufacturers’ Outlook Survey”, asking the leading manufacturers for their opinions on recession, inflation, hiring and China competition legislation.

Inflationary pressures topped the list of the most worrisome concerns those surveyed had, 59.3% claiming they feared a recession was very likely in the next 12 months. 90.1% of respondents mentioned the increased raw material costs as a concern and 49.4% also cited a shortage of workers.
