Resistance to Electric Vehicles Grows Amid Concerns over Practicality and Mandates


Despite the enthusiasm of electric vehicle enthusiasts, recent surveys show that a majority of Americans do not find EVs practical or desirable. The 2022 Deloitte Global Automotive Study reveals that a significant percentage of Americans do not plan to purchase an electrified vehicle, with less than 5% considering an EV as their next vehicle. Concerns range from lack of charging infrastructure to battery range limitations and heavy load impacts. Furthermore, EV mandates imposed by governments are seen by critics as misguided, with doubts surrounding the achievability and practicality of such mandates.
