🌿 NYC nonprofit opens first legal retail marijuana shop.

A the corner of Astor Place and Broadway in Greenwich Village, Housing Works has begun its newest line of business: weed sales. The 31-year-old nonprofit known for assisting New York’s homeless and HIV-positive population with its network of thrift shops is projecting sales to the tune of nearly $1 million in pretax revenue within its first year. Housing Works Chief Executive Officer Charles King and state Senator Liz Krueger of Manhattan spoke at the preopening event for the media at the closing of 2022 and voiced support for the legislation that legalized the recreational use of marijuana.
