“Congestion Toll” is progressing in NYC


The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is set to proceed with an environmental assessment and long-delayed public hearings for the toll, meant to be issued to those driving through highly-congested areas of the city.

London, Singapore, and Stockholm are all cities that have used similar congestion pricing to help combat heavy traffic. The proposed electronic toll would affect those traveling from Manhattan below 60th Street, projecting $1 billion of annual revenue for city-funded MTA’s subway and bus system projects.
