The ongoing strike at Canadian West Coast ports is causing a significant impact on freight rail cargo entering the United States, according to weekly rail trade data from the Association of American Railroads (AAR). Intermodal Canadian rail traffic was down 46.2% year-over-year, affecting sectors such as forest products, oil and petroleum, minerals, and chemicals. The strike has led to delays, supply chain concerns, and the diversion of vessels to U.S. ports, further exacerbating congestion and potential challenges in the supply chain.
