Puerto Rico, which gets over 40% of its electricity from liquefied natural gas (LNG), is unable to receive US LNG exports due to the Jones Act. The law restricts domestic waterborne transportation to vessels that are US-flagged, making it economically impractical to build an LNG tanker under the Jones Act.
