Lawsuits have been filed by 19 states, led by Iowa, against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over its support for California's future ban on heavy diesel vehicles. The states argue that the EPA is attempting to regulate the trucking industry out of existence through net-zero emissions standards and that the truck ban will increase costs, devastate demand for liquid fuels, and result in job losses. They contend that California's regulation violates the Clean Air Act and other federal laws and are petitioning the court to review the EPA's actions.
