High School Trucking Course Empowers Students with Road Skills

Patterson High School's truck driving education program stands out with its innovative approach to teaching students the ways of the road. In addition to simulators, the program incorporates golf carts to provide hands-on experiences and instill a sense of ownership and responsibility in the students.

The golf carts are connected to utility trailers, allowing students to practice various parking techniques and backing skills. Moreover, a donation from Love's Travel Stops enabled the creation of a golf cart course and the acquisition of "Fatal Vision" goggles, which simulate impaired vision to educate students about the dangers of driving under the influence. The program aims to build confidence and emphasize the importance of safe and responsible driving through these innovative tools.
