Gasoline Prices Soar in California Due to Crude Oil Costs and Refinery Disruptions


Gasoline prices in California have surged to an average of $6.08 per gallon, up 15% from a month ago, largely due to a spike in crude oil costs and refinery output disruptions. These prices are about 55% higher than the national average. The decline in crude oil supply, driven by OPEC+ production cuts, has combined with refinery slowdowns caused by weather-related damage and maintenance. California Governor Gavin Newsom has eased regulations to allow the production of a cheaper winter blend of gasoline earlier than usual, which may provide some relief for drivers in the state.
