The Aviation Supply Chain is Facing New Challenges and Strategies

Supply chain issues in the global aviation sector are starting to improve, but it may still take a couple of years to fully resolve them, according to industry experts at the Singapore Airshow. Airbus is deploying teams to untangle bottlenecks, while airlines like Cebu Pacific are stocking up on spare parts to tackle delays.

However, both Airbus and Boeing are struggling to meet the soaring demand for new aircraft, with delivery delays extending up to nine months. The shortages stem from a variety of factors, including disruptions caused by the Ukraine war, skilled labor shortages, and increased demand for aerospace materials. As a result, prices for parts have spiked, prompting companies to rethink their supply strategies. While the industry adapts to these challenges, airlines are beefing up their operations with more standby aircraft and crew to navigate the uncertainty ahead.
